I am proud to say I am a native born Californian. I was raised in Tustin and graduated from Tustin High where I had to take all college prep courses. I did not get to take an art class until my senior year and by then I was so intimidated by all the little freshmen who were so free and creative...I did not enjoy it at all!!I went off to USC and majored in Elementary Education...one of the few things women in my generation could major in at the time. When I was a little girl, my Grandma Baker always said I should go to art school...but again...I had to study to be a teacher! So art fell by the wayside!
I did not start painting until later in life...but from the beginning I was totally abstract! I took up knitting and got so bored knitting scarves in straight lines, that I started to abstract my knitting. I guess I was never one to stay within the box! Once I began knitting outside the box it made me very happy! It was quite by accident that I began combining my painting and knitting. What evolved was what I call my "Knit Art".
I hope you will enjoy my Website...I have been told the the Knit Art looks much better in person, so if you would like to see it, just write me and I would love to have you come for a visit and I will show you all my work.
It's a funny thing about abstract art, but it seems like everyone wants to make an object out of it. To me it's just abstract, but it's OK if you see somethink in it!! Just let your mind wander!!
